Vision and Mission
The Armed Forces Pest Management Board's vision is that the DoD will be the Federal leader for innovative prevention and management of disease vectors and pests.
We recommend policy, provide guidance, and coordinate the exchange of information on all matters related to pest management throughout the Department of Defense (DoD). Our mission is to ensure that environmentally sound and effective programs are present to prevent pests and disease vectors from adversely affecting DoD operations.
We provide support to DoD personnel on any pest management issue in any situation. We also provide rapid accurate responses to questions regarding all aspects of pest management.
Coordinates DoD vector control and pest management research, development, testing, and evaluation activities. Manages the DWFP Research Program.
Because natural resources belong to the public, Congress enacted the “Sikes Act” to ensure public access to renewable natural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) lands, subject to safety requirements and military security.
The Environmental Biology section works in cooperation with the military services’ pest management, natural resources and operations programs to support DoD policy development and consultation.
